A Surrogate’s Experience

Intending Parents, Surrogacy Comments (0)

Dear Intending Parents,
I had my first surrogate baby in May 2013. I believe this was an amazing experience. The first night I had to begin giving myself shots I was a little nervous – I looked at the needle for five minutes before pushing it into my muscle. Every day became easier to give myself shots as I got to know the family. The day of the embryo transfer was exciting! They really wanted this baby. I wanted to give them their baby. We had to wait 8 days after the embryo transfer to see if the embryo stuck through multiple blood draws. We were pregnant! Then at 7 weeks we were able to see a strong heart beat.
I started feeling the baby move around 13 weeks. This was such an exciting time to be able to describe in words the movement of their child. As the time for delivery approached the Intending Mother flew to Boise to be present for the delivery. The emotion in the delivery room is indescribable. The Intending Mother was able to cut the cord and the first to hold her baby.
I would like to pass on the joys of parenthood I have received with my own children, to another family with their own child. I would love to help you in your new journey. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to introduce myself!
